Cylindroma
Cylindromas are uncommon but not rare benign adnexal tumors. They most commonly occur
on the head, the neck, and the scalp in solitary and multiple patterns. Solitary
cylindromas affect the face and the scalp of older adults, and they do not seem to be
inherited. Multiple tumors are not as common and are inherited in an autosomal dominant
mode, and they may occur on the trunk and the extremities as well as the head and the
neck. When nodules enlarge and coalesce on the scalp, they form the distinctive turban
tumor feature. |
