Hydrosalpinx picture

Hydrosalpinx is a dilated Fallopian tube, which is filled with watery, sterile fluid. It is usually the result of pelvic inflammatory disease and associated salpingitis. Periovarian and peritubal adhesions result in tubal obstruction and hydrosalpinx. Infertility is the most important clinical sequela, while chronic pelvic pain may also be present.
