Furuncle infection picture
A pus-making skin infection in a gland or hair
gland (follicle). It is marked by pain, redness, and swelling. Tissue death in the center
of the swollen area forms a core of matter that will be released, reabsorbed, or
surgically removed. To prevent spread of infection it is important to avoid irritating or
squeezing the sore. Treatment may include antibiotics, local moist heat, and cutting and
